This week Blue Snake released a new comprehensive guide to the three-section staff. The Classical Three-Section Staff by Rick Wing is an easy-to-use manual that breaks down the complex maneuvers associated with the weapon of “whirling fury” into step-by step instructions. The book contains over 500 photographs which depict front and back angles of the techniques. To accompany his new release, Rick provided two video clips of a three-section staff demonstration. He describes the videos below:
This video gives the flavor of how the form in The Classical Three-Section Staff might be done. Notice that the stances will not match exactly to the photos of the book, but readers of the book may find these videos helpful. The videos are taken from different angles and were done at a Chinese New Year’s performance in San Francisco. We will post a few more angles from different performances as time permits.
