A Practitioner’s Guide to Myofascial Trigger Point Applications
Chronic pain has many sources, and sensory bombardment is a common source that physical therapists know all too little about. In this book, author and international authority on the subject, John Sharkey, outlines accurate and essential criteria for the identification and subsequent treatment of myofascial trigger points at the root of much chronic pain.
By incorporating Eastern acupunctural tools within a Western framework, this book teaches the effective practice of dry needling to access myofascial trigger points and pain. Instructive illustrations support the text along with standards and guidelines that ensure safe, effective and appropriate application. The ideal accompaniment to course notes and the perfect tableside reference guide, this concise, comprehensive, and well-illustrated book is indispensable to physical therapists including osteopaths, chiropractors, neuromuscular therapists, soft tissue therapists, physiotherapists, and sports massage therapists.
