A Homeopathic Kit for Sports Season

Fall is here, and kids are getting back to school, and back in to sports. You’ve got bandages, orange slices, and lots of water. But to be truly prepared for everything, consider bringing along a homeopathic kit—complete with Aconitum, Arnica, Bellis, Bryonia, Gelsemium, Glonoinum, Hypericum, Ledum, Rhus Tox, and Ruta Grav—to treat injuries on the field. Remedies for Problems on the Sports Field

For each ailment, give two pellets of the remedy at a time. Two pellets are considered to be one homeopathic dose.

NOTE: Please seek professional help for: blows to the head, profuse bleeding, collar bone injury, or compromised breathing, or if you suspect the child has sunstroke, a dislocation, a fracture, or internal bleeding.



Aconitum Fear of crowds, faintness, hyperventilation, heart palpitations, restlessness and impatience.

Arnica Nightmares about an injury that occurred, or flashbacks of the injury.

Gelsemium Paralyzing fear of losing control, and fear of public performance. Dizziness, heavy limbs, diarrhea, and trembling.


Blows to the Muscles

Arnica Muscles feel sore, bruised, and beat-up. This remedy reduces pain and swelling.

Bellis For deeper trauma with more severe swelling and bruising than for Arnica. Sore, achy, and throbbing pain.

Byronia Tearing and needle-like pain. Child does not want to move. This remedy reduces swelling and inflammation.

Rhus Tox Tearing pains, inflammation, and stiffness.


Blows to the Back or Tailbone

Arnica Give this remedy first for tailbone injury, then Hypericum. Back feels sore, tender, beat up, and bruised.

Hypericum For tailbone injury, or a back injury with intense pressure and shooting pains. Child is tender, sore, weak, and trembling.


Injuries to the Eye

Aconitum For splinters or sharp objects that penetrate the eye. Red and inflamed eye.

Arnica Eye socket and surrounding soft tissue feels bruised and very sore. There is swelling.

Hypericum Intense, severe, and shooting pain. Also for pain after removal of foreign object.

Ledum Severe black eye. Area around eye usually feels cold. Eye is swollen, tender, and purple.


Blows to the Head

Arnica Give 2 pellets right away. Reduces swelling of bumps on the head. Put 2 pellets inside of cheek if they are knocked out.

Hypericum Bursting headache, dizzy, shooting pains, or heavy feeling.


Blows to the Lips, Mouth, or Teeth

Arnica Soreness, swelling, or bruising to teeth or mouth.

Hypericum Area is extremely tender and sensitive. This remedy relieves nerve pain that shoots up.


Heat Exhaustion or Sunstroke

Bryonia Severe, splitting, and bursting headache. Does not want to move.

Gelsemium Drowsy, with droopy eyes, flushed face, cold hands and feet, and dry, hot skin.

Glonoinum Sunstroke (flushed, hot face, throbbing headache, sweaty).


Injuries to the Bones

Arnica Give 2 pellets first. Helps with shock, swelling, and bruising.

Ruta Grav For injury to shin or collar bone. Intense soreness and achy pains. Reduces bruses and inflammation. Weariness.


Injuries to Soft Tissue

Bellis Injuries to soft tissue of breasts, abdomen, and pelvic area. Bruised, swollen, sore, and achy.


Puncture Wounds

Hypericum For insect bites that are very painful. Shooting pain in nerve-rich areas such as fingers, toes, or lips.

Ledum Wounds to the palm of hand or sole of foot. Insect bites or splinters. Affected area feels cold and numb. Pains are shooting, pricking.



Aconitum Child is fearful, anxious, very reactive to pain, inconsolable. Glassy eyes or dilated pupils. Screaming and crying out in terror.

Arnica Child is stunned, exhausted, and irritable when offered help. Anxious because they do not want to be touched.


Sprains and Strains

Arnica Muscle feels sore, bruised and beat-up. Over-stretching of a joint. This remedy reduces pain and swelling.

Bellis Deeper trauma with more severe swelling and bruising than Arnica. Sore, achy, and throbbing.

Bryonia Tearing and needle-like pains. Reduces swelling and inflammation. Red around joint. Good for knees. Does not want to move.

Ledum Injured joint is very swollen, cold, and numb.

Rhus Tox Tearing and shooting pains. Hot, swollen joint. Much inflammation and stiffness on first movement after being still.

Ruta Grav Intense, sore, deep, achy pains. Reduces bruises, weariness, and heat. Good for wrists and ankles, and torn tendons.
