Frog Books

In 1994 North Atlantic Books created the Frog imprint. The new entity was named Frog Books, after the creatures which are now endangered worldwide. Frogs are amphibian, atavistic, ancient, and fragilely beautiful. They are sources of medicines and shamanic drugs. Among Native American peoples, sacred societies and sodalities, especially of women, are named for frogs. Frogs are also considered the "canaries in the coal mine" for an ecologically threatened planet. Their vulnerability makes them susceptible sooner than other species to changes in the environment and atmosphere.

In 2007 Frog was donated by its shareholders to North Atlantic Books and is now part of the Society for the Study of Native Arts and Sciences.
